Wherever you are and whatever your motive is for viewing our website, I welcome you to Olney Friends School with an open heart and an open mind. You are welcome!
Almost everyone who has had the opportunity to experience Olney Friends School and partake of the “Olney Spirit” will tell you that there is something magical at work in our community. Even those who have attended elite high schools in North America and elsewhere in the world ask themselves how a school such as ours exists. Conventional ideas of what it means to be a caring and loving human being are continually called into question. Empathy, integrity, and embracing ambiguity as a condition of life are at the heart of what we do at Olney. One gets the sense that we are not papier-mâché. We intentionally stay simple, placing materialism in its place. We celebrate our shared humanity in the good that we see and elicit in each other each day. As you get to know us through this website, you may very well realize that you have struck pure gold without necessarily intending to do so. That is the magic of Olney.
