Olney Friends School Location
Olney Friends School is located in southeastern Ohio in Belmont County. Our 350 acres campus consists of rolling hills, pastures, farm fields, a small lake, the head waters of Captina Creek, and wooded trails. We offer students a stand-out “learning laboratory” in local, regional, and global matters. We offer coursework that focuses on the areas of energy, economy, and the environment.
The natural resources of the Ohio Valley, including coal and farmland, help to support more populous areas elsewhere. More than 90% of local electricity and more than 50% nationally comes from burning coal.
Our curriculum, which incorporates the natural resources of the Ohio Valley , blends more traditional instructional methods with project-based and place-based learning.
A strong tradition of community knits the school and town of Barnesville together. Hosting of free cultural events such as concerts, poetry readings, and film screenings also draws the two together. Finally, each year several local students attend Olney Friends School.
