Yale researchers have made Olney Friends School their headquarters for the Ohio Water and Air Quality Study. They have expressed much gratitude and appreciation to the Olney community and stated, “Things are going very well and the Stillwater Science Center (SSC) is fantastic.” The chemistry lab in the SSC has been transformed into a summer research center for important environmental and public health studies. Thank you to all who shared their time and resources to create Olney’s environmental science center.
You can find more information and a video about the study at the WTOV 9 website.
Yale University Press Statement:
Yale Researchers Come to Belmont County
A team of Yale scientists has come to Belmont County for the summer to carry out the Ohio Water and Air Quality Study. The Yale team will be collecting and analyzing water and air samples as well as administering health questionnaires to better understand whether there could be increased exposures to environmental pollutants in communities with natural gas extraction. For more information or to see if you are eligible for the study, please contact the study at (740) 792-6040 or [email protected] The researchers are particularly seeking people who use a private well or spring for their primary drinking water source.
