During the winter season, when even the chickens don’t want to go outside, Olney Friends School’s farmers are looking eagerly to spring. While we plan for next season, one tool we often refer to is the Farm Strategic Plan. It details four goals for the farm over several years. Those goals are:
- Improve the integration of the farm and school.
- Partner with Ohio Yearly Meeting to ensure planning and continued guidance is supported with a formal process.
- Use sustainable and ecologically balanced practices in our stewardship to increase the nutritional quality and economic productivity of the land.
- Improve Olney’s financial stability by operating under a farm financial model that allows for long-range planning.
Approved in 2013 by the Board of Trustees, it continues to direct The Farm each year. Read the full document here.
