Please consider whether you — or someone you know — would be a good fit to work remotely in the following position with the Olney Friends School community. We welcome your referrals and applications. Thank you.
THE POSITION
Olney Friends School seeks to recruit a dynamic, talented, and experienced development professional for the 2022-2023 academic year and beyond. Working 90% remotely with the support of our Board and Administrative Team, the Philanthropy and Donor Stewardship Manager will have an opportunity to design and implement a forward-looking fundraising plan for the school within Olney’s strategic plan. Recruiting a sophisticated, results-oriented fundraising professional with a proven track record of securing major gifts constitutes a critical strategic shift for the school as it envisions its sustainable future.
ABOUT OLNEY
Olney leaves an indelible mark on students, alums, and other stakeholders as a one-of-a-kind Quaker educational institution. Olney is an ISACS-accredited, progressive, co-educational boarding and day school located in Barnesville, Ohio, for grades 9 – 12. It maintains membership in the Friends Council on Education (FCE), the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Ohio Association of Independent Schools (OAIS), and The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS).
Our 350-acre farm provides much more than the organic food served at meals; it serves as the basis for exploring such questions as “what is knowledge?” and “what does it mean to be a global citizen?” Throughout its 184-year history, organic farming, farm-to-table, and environmental stewardship practices have formed an integral part of the school’s identity.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can make sense of uncertain and ambiguous fundraising situations to deliver results. The candidate will also possess a combination of the following:
- A proven track record of success in securing long-term grants from private philanthropic organizations, individual donors, and grant-making government agencies.
- Experience preparing high-level strategic and technical reports for governing boards.
- A leadership style that enhances communal trust, professionalism, respect, collaboration, empathy, and a sense of community.
- Demonstrated donor stewardship success, including maintaining relationships with current donors, securing new donors, and re-engaging lapsed donors.
- Experience planning and managing a successful capital campaign.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness and ability to work off-site (90%) with regular in-person visits to campus.
- An understanding of and commitment to Quaker testimonies, practice, and education.
- An undergraduate degree in any field and membership in an appropriate professional association (e.g., Association of Fundraising Professionals) required. Graduate or advanced professional training in any field preferred.
The school will also consider candidates with other credentials, relevant experience, and a record of success.
