Olney Supports Yale Water Quality Study

Dr. Nicole Deziel, assistant professor, and Elise Elliott, doctoral student, both from the Yale Department of Environmental Health Sciences, were in the Barnesville area doing preliminary work on a water quality study they plan to conduct here this summer. Olney hosted them in the Mary Davis guesthouse and they were given a tour of the area by Olney alumni and staff.

The photograph above was taken in the Stillwater Science Center where Rich Sidwell, Executive Director of Captina Conservancy, explained some of the work done by the Conservancy. Olney’s Leonard Guindon, who several years ago was named Ohio’s Environmental Science teacher of the year, shared information with the Yale researchers about the stream monitoring he conducts with his Environmental Science students. In light of the Quaker principle of stewardship, Olney embraces this opportunity to support the important study on our water quality planned by Nicole and Elise.
