Olney Friends School invites you to join us virtually to hear from our next guest speaker: Dr. Jan Ramer of the Columbus Zoo will present the following live video conference, “Conservation Science in Action: Central Africa and Ohio” on Friday, April 15th at 7:00 PM EDT.
Currently the Senior Vice President of Animal Care and Conservation for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and The Wilds, Jan Ramer has worked in the field of zoological conservation throughout her career. Once an animal keeper at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, Jan received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin in 1995, then served as veterinarian at the Indianapolis Zoo for 14 years. She found her passion in conservation medicine as Regional Manager for the Gorilla Doctors, leading a team of African veterinarians in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo for three and a half years. Jan returned to the United States in 2015 to work at The Wilds in Cumberland, Ohio, as the Director of Conservation Medicine. Later becoming Vice President for The Wilds, Jan moved into her current position last summer. The Wilds has been a destination and a resource for Olney Friends School and friends for many years, and we look forward to our next collaboration!
This event will be conducted through Zoom and is open to the greater Olney Community. To attend, check your alumni email or email us at alumni@www.olneyfriends.org to receive the invitation link. We hope you can join us!
