Rich Sidwell, former head of Olney Friends School, and Don Guindon, Olney farm manager, have been instrumental in the construction of the new broiler house.
The broiler house will allow us to raise organic laying hens and organic meat chickens from day old chicks. We plan to be able to raise enough organic chicken and eggs to meet all of our poultry needs plus have some organic eggs to sell. Our first set of chicks arrive on April 11 and we will have 4 more sets rotating through until December 4 when the house will be closed for the winter. Our layers are Rhode Island Reds and the broilers are Red Bros.
