Area native and award-winning poet returns for a reading at Olney Friends School

Born in Barnesville in 1939, Stanley Plumly is a graduate of Wilmington College and Ohio University. He is currently the poet laureate for the state of Maryland and a professor of English and director of University of Maryland, College Park’s creative writing program. Plumly is the author of numerous collections of poetry, including In the Outer Dark (1970), winner of the Delmore Schwartz Memorial Award, and Out-of-the-Body Travel (1978), nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award. His most recent collection, Against Sunset, was published by W.W.Norton in 2016.
