Over the weekend, Olney Friends School was pleased to host a group of eight students and three faculty members from Arthur Morgan School, a progressive boarding and day school for students in grades 7-9 in Burnsville, North Carolina. Arthur Morgan School shares many similarities with Olney, being a Quaker school with an on-campus farm and a deeply rooted appreciation for environmental stewardship. The party arrived Friday evening, enjoying dinner with Olney students and faculty before attending our annual Junior Auction.
Each year, Arthur Morgan School students and staff split into themed groups and take 18-day trips, exploring art, crafts, and a variety of lifestyle events across the eastern United States. A group dedicated to learning more about hand craftsmanship attended a weaving workshop Saturday afternoon with Mary Cooper and Bill Sichina, members of the Ohio Hills Spinning and Weaving Guild.
Later in the day, several members of the group played in the first annual Ken Hinshaw Volleyball Invitation, held to celebrate the birthday of Olney’s Head of School. In the evening, they joined Olney students for an exciting game of hide and seek in the Main.
Olney would like to thank everyone who visited us this weekend, and we hope to see you all back here soon!
