Welcome
Olney Friends School is blessed with many loyal donors, from across our wider school family: alumni, honorary alumni, families of current students and graduates, friends, and Quaker meetings. Given Olney’s relatively small donor base (just over 2,000 in number) the amount given per student is remarkable. A good example is the 2011 Annual Fund. The gift total came to just over $231,000. The opening enrollment in 2011 was 50 students with $4,600 raised per student through the Annual Fund.
Learning to work cooperatively, to appreciate the land, to understand our own and other cultures, and to be responsible, productive adults are familiar themes at Olney, with great relevance for these times. In a recent interview with Larry Sidwell ’71 (senior vice president for credit and operations for John Deere) he stated: “Some of the values important to us at Deere are diversity, education, global presence and reach, integrity, commitment and innovation. These values are pretty consistent with what I learned at Olney, and which the school stands for. Olney has always been the North Star for me – as far as people, place, family, community. Giving to Olney is not an obligation or something I do on the side. It’s very ingrained.” Larry also served the school as chair of the A Time to Build Campaign Steering Committee.
We welcome you to support the efforts of teachers and students with your gift today.
