News Release: Stream Testing

Recently the Environmental Science class traveled to nearby Captina Creek to assess the stream's quality and health. The students based their assessment on the quantity and variety of fish species found in the stream. Dan Imhoff of the Environmental Protection Agency demonstrated the use of electro fishing equipment. The equipment emits an electronic signal that attracts and temporarily stuns fish so that they can be collected, counted, and eventually returned to the creek. Leonard Guindon, Environmental Science teacher, estimates that 15 different species of fish were found in their assessment, indicating a healthy stream environment
