Creationism and the teaching of science is a current hot topic in education across the country. AP science teacher, Jason Givens-Doyle and a group of students will attend a lecture by Professor Eugenie Scott on the topic at Ohio University in Athens on Monday, October 8.

Quoting the lecture's website - "Scott's lecture will examine the origins of the creation science movement and its modern day manifestations, with an emphasis on Ohio. It will be followed by a question and answer session."

"The controversy between evolutionary biology and religion is not new, but has been growing again in recent years within the United States," said Molly Morris, associate professor of biological sciences and a member of the Frontiers in Science Committee. "Understanding the history of creationism and intelligent design, and why Darwinian evolution presents a challenge to some theological positions, is important for all of us as citizens."
