News Release: The 2006-2007 Academic year is off to a great start!
While the approx. 60 students for fall enrollment may seem small compared to most high schools today, school faculty and administrators hold dear Olney's close-knit community-based learning environment. With a small teacher-student ratio, Olney is able to provide a very exciting and individualized learning atmosphere.
One of the strengths of the Olney Friends School community is the diversity of the student body. Students arrive at Olney Friends School from all over the country and the world. In the 2006-2007 school year, students from Rwanda, Uganda, Poland, Serbia, Korea, Vietnam, China, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Germany, the Democratic Republic of Congo and 18 states across the country will call Olney home. With this diverse mix, sharing world cultures is an enriching daily experience at Olney.
Within Olney Friends School's close knit community, students do not just build an academic foundation, they launch lifelong relationships. Even as students leave the school, their connections live on and endure! A good example of this bond is apparent in Olney's strong alumni relations.
Fourteen current students have family members who have either attended Olney Friends School or worked as a member of the Olney faculty. Alumni promote the concept that Olney is a place where knowledge has no bounds. The support of alumni and friends enables and empowers a diverse community of learners to impact the world through a commitment to academic excellence and social justice.
While the students are already impacting the community, Olney Friends School also began the 2006-2007 academic year with some new faculty members who are eager to educate and uphold the excellence in education offered by Olney Friends School.
