Student Film Wins Judges' Choice Award in Bridge Film Festival
Olney Friends School senior Bojana Nesovic’s film, “What If…” has been honored with a Judges’ Choice Award in the Bridge Film Festival.
Nesovic’s video, less than one minute in length, was selected as a finalist in the public service announcment category. The same film was honored earlier this spring as a finalist in the American Friends Service Committee’s youth contest, “If I Had a Trillion Dollars…” proposing alternative uses for dollars spent by the US military.
The Bridge Film Festival, established in 2000 with a grant from the Friends Council on Education, is an international festival of student films from Friends (Quaker) schools and meetings worldwide. The contest is open to students in grades 5-12. Films must reflect Quaker values in action.
From the festival’s web site: “[T]he festival is committed to nurturing purposeful filmmaking that communicates messages of conscience. Guided by the Quaker principles of truth, community, equality, and peace, the festival gives voice to student expression and recognizes creative achievement.”
