Award-Winning Poet to Read at Olney Friends School

Award-winning poet George Bilgere will read from his work on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Collection Room of Olney Friends School. The event is free and open to the public.

Bilgere is a public poet. He has read his work on Garrison Keillor’s radio show “A Prairie Home Companion.” He also co-hosts his own weekly radio show, WORDPLAY, a mix of poetry and comedy that the Plain Dealer has described as “the Click and Clack of poetry.”

Bilgere teaches in the English department at John Carroll University in Cleveland. Awards for his poetry include the 2009 Autumn House Press Poetry Prize for The White Museum, the 2006 May Swenson Poetry Prize for Haywire, and the 2002 University of Akron Poetry Prize for The Good Kiss
