Ways to Give
There are many ways to make a significant, tax-wise investment in the A Time to Build Campaign that will support the school's work both immediately and in the long term. For more details, or if you would like to have a conversation regarding one of the following gift options, please contact Rich Sidwell (Head of School) or Mary Sidwell (Director of Development): 740-425-3655 ext. 201 for Rich or ext. 204 for Mary.
Current Gifts The immediate goal of Olney Friends School's A Time to Build Campaign is to raise $6.0 million to build a new Activity Center, complete exterior renovations to the Main building and dormitories, and increase the school's endowment. We encourage you to consider outright gifts that can be used to meet these important needs. Current gifts will be credited to the campaign at their full cash value on the date they are made or transferred to Olney.
Pledges A pledge to the A Time to Build Campaign enables you to consider a larger investment with payments over a period of years. Olney will honor pledges of up to five years for the capital projects and through June 30, 2010, for the annual fund. Reminder notices can be sent at regular intervals upon request, and pledges are tax-deductible as payments are received.
Monthly Gifts For those who prefer to automate their giving, there are three ways to make a monthly gift to Olney: (1) You can set up a monthly direct deposit from your bank account. (2) You can use a monthly bill paying service. (3) You can make a gift through payroll deduction if your employer has a program to do this.
Cash Cash or gifts by check are always welcome and are tax-deductible. The tax savings from the deduction will depend on your tax rate and other factors. Automatic Payment Option - An automatic payment option, which draws monthly on your bank account, is available.
Securities and
Mutual Fund Shares
Giving appreciated assets maximizes your charitable contribution to the Olney campaign. Because of capital gains considerations, it is more beneficial to contribute appreciated securities directly to Olney rather than to sell them and donate the proceeds of the sale. Please contact us for specific instructions on transferring securities to Olney.
Planned Gifts Planned gifts will be treated in the campaign according to the following policies:

Irrevocable planned gifts will be accepted from those of all ages. Examples of irrevocable planned gifts include charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, charitable unitrusts and certain forms of insurance gifts. Gifts will be counted at the gift value (not face value) of the gift as determined by IRS regulations.

Bequests will be accepted from those 80 years of age or above as of December 31, 2010. If desired, the donor may elect to make a commitment to the campaign that will be honored through their will or estate. Such commitments must be in writing. If a percent of an estate is designated, please provide an estimate of the value of the gift at the time the commitment is made. This is the value that we will use for recording purposes.

Bequests commitments from those 79 years old or younger will be recorded and counted toward Olney's goal of securing the names of 50 people who have included Olney in their estate plans. While we will be very appreciative of this commitment, bequests from those 79 years old and below as of the end of the campaign (12-31-2010) will not be counted toward the financial goal of the campaign.
Charitable Gift Annuities Many friends of Olney are faced with the challenge of balancing their desire to support Olney with their need for financial security in retirement. A gift annuity to Olney, issued and administered in partnership by Friends Fiduciary Corporation, can serve as a safe and convenient way to receive life-time income and also respond to the desire to support the mission of Olney Friends School. Annuity rates are tied directly to the age of the income beneficiary at the time the gift is made. The minimum gift for an annuity is $10,000.
