We have two dorms: a Girls Dorm and a Boys Dorm. Each dorm is its own community. Three adults live in each dorm and supervise dorm life. Student dorm staff is a group of several students from each dorm who plan activities and events for the dorm and make sure new students feel at home. Each evening, one faculty member is on duty in the dorm and is available to students for counsel or conversation. On Sunday evenings, our weekly dorm meetings offer a chance for the dorm residents to catch up with each other's weekend activities and discuss issues of importance in the dorm.
Three times each week, our dorm common areas (parlors) are open for co-ed activities. Dorm staff often plan activities during this time. It is also a good time to "hang out" and talk.
Each dorm room houses two or three students and comes furnished with beds, desks, dressers, and closets. Students create comfortable spaces in which to rest and play, and they are responsible for the care and maintenance of the dorm. Each dorm is equipped with a full kitchen and coin operated laundry facilities.
Because we ask our students to focus on relationships with the real people in their lives, we discourage computer games and intentionally have no internet access in the dorms. Each dorm has a television/DVD/VCR. Students are allotted one hour of television during the school week and three hours each weekend.
