Welcome! We’re glad you’re considering Olney Friends School.
We are a coeducational college preparatory Quaker boarding high school for grades 9-12. Our 50-60 students come from about a dozen US states and about a dozen countries. We make use of the land in teaching and learning in all subjects, especially in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.
Energy, Economy, Environment
Our bountiful 350-acre campus is a learning laboratory, which includes woods, fields, a stream, and a small lake. We grow and eat much of our own food. Students take a leadership role in all aspects of the school, from cleaning, to cooking, to making policy recommendations.
Our college preparatory curriculum is evolving to center on the natural resources of Appalachia, the region where we live. Energy, economy, environment: these are the themes that shape our local, regional, and global education.
