Electives
Students will have many opportunities to take elective courses in addition to the required core courses.
Elective courses are offered each quarter, with offerings from the academic, religion, fine arts, and practical skills areas.
Practical skills reflect a unique selection of elective courses. Using our farm, campus, and surrounding natural areas as laboratory, we teach students about life in our world.
We offer courses that change the way students perceive the physical world and their role in it. From pitching tents to cooking for 100, we believe in the importance of real skills.
Imparting both outdoors and life skills, our practical skills curriculum offers courses in farm culture, food literacy, nature studies, simplicity, and more.
Religion courses allow students opportunities not only to learn about others’ religious traditions but also to reflect upon and refine their own beliefs.
Academic electives supplement the core college preparatory curriculum. Students are invited to go into greater depth in a subject they enjoy. Some academic electives are offered annually, while others are offered in alternate years.
Fine arts electives are many and varied, depending on both student and teacher interests year by year. We are proud to display student artwork throughout the Main Building, to invite the public to theater performances, and to feature student creative work in our print and online publications.
